RULES & CONDITIONS

1.

The competition will be open to amateur male golfers, in posession of a CONGU or equivalent handicap of 4 or less, who are members of a Golf Club which is a member of the appropriate Union or equivalent.
2.

The competition will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by R&A Rules Limited.

3.

The ball the player plays must be named on the Current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by R&A Rules Limited.

4. The competition will be over 72 holes, scratch only, and the lowest aggregates will win the various prizes.
5.

The competition is governed by the Executive of the North District and the Executive will make decisions, and settle disputes, such decisions and settlements being final.

The winner will receive the David Blair Trophy and a voucher for £400. Prizes for second to twelfth will be awarded, being vouchers for £300, £200, £150, £125, £100, £80, £70, £60 and £50.

7. The competition will be played at Inverness Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday 21st & 22nd August 2010.

Two rounds will be played on each day. The leading 40 players and ties will compete on the second day.

The closing date for entries will be Friday 6th August 2010 at 17:00 hours, by which time an entry, to be accepted, must be in the hands of the Secretary of the North District. It is the responsibilty of the entrant to ensure that an entry is received by the Secretary by the due time on the due date. The Secretary will be the sole arbiter of compliance with this requirement, and no correspondence nor discussion will be entered into with regard to the decision in this respect.

All entries must include Full Name, Address, Contact Telephone Number, Home Club and Exact Handicap. In addition entrants who are aged 18 years or under at 00:00 hours on 1 January 2010 require to state their Date of Birth. Forms of entry will be in the hands of all Secretaries of member clubs in the North District not later than 28th February 2010. The form of entry requires to be signed by the entrant and the also by the Secretary of his Home Club, whose signature certifies the bona fides of the entrant and the accuracy of his handicap.
11. The entry fee is £30 and will not be refunded in any circumstances other than balloting out hereunder.
12. Forms of entry and these Rules and Conditions will be posted on the North District Website (www.sgunorthgolf.com) by 28th February 2010 and may be downloaded therefrom.
13. A competitor is not permitted to withdraw at any stage of the competition except for emergency reasons or medical circumstances explained to and accepted by the Executive. A competitor failing to notify the Executive in person of his withrawal before departing the competition venue will be subject to an automatic one year ban from all North District events, such ban also to apply if such withdrawal is not accepted as aforesaid. Only in exceptional circumstances and on appeal to the Executive will the ban be uplifted.
14. Late entries may be accepted or placed on a reserve list, if the list is full, for admission to the competition in the event of withdrawals or otherwise at the discretion of the Executive.
15. The draw for play will be made and published on the website (www.sgunorthgolf.com) and in the Press & Journal not later than Tuesday 17th August 2010. No preferred tee times will be granted. The Executive will endeavour to comply with travelling arrangements specified, but accepts no obligation to do so.
16. Caddies will be permitted. Buggies may not be used.
17. The David Blair Trophy remains the property of the North District. It will be held by the Golf Club of the winner, and that winner and that Golf Club will be jointly responsible for returning it to the Secretary of the North District not later than 10th January 2011. Having had the Trophy engraved.
18. Competitors will be allowed the courtesy of Inverness Golf Club for a practice round on Friday 20th August, prior booking being required.
19. The Executive reserves the right to fix a maximum number of entries, and to ballot out in ascending order of handicap. The entry fee of an entrant balloted out will be returned.
20. A tie for the Trophy will be decided by a play-off over two holes, thereafter sudden death played immediately. A tie for lesser places will be decided by countback.
21. Competitors will be awarded appropriate points for the Kirkwood Trophy awarded to the Scottish Golfer of the Year.
22. So far as competitors under 18 at 00:00 hours on 1 January 2010 are concerned, the competition will be run in accordance with the Child Protection Policy of the North District, copies of which are available from the Secretary on request.
23. Distance Measuring Devices wil NOT be allowed.
24. The Executive reserves the right to amend or add to these Rules in order to achieve a result.
